Breil Sur Roya

Turn left up the Roya Valley from Ventimiglia. Interesting town on a beautiful lake. There are rafting expeditions from here as well as mountain walks, rock climbing, cycle riding. There is a canoe centre and you can hire a canoe or various other means of going down the river. A favourite activity for teenagers!

Just beyond the town towards Tende on the right, is the Castel du Roy hotel - lovely spot by the river, you can have a good lunch and they have a pool.
