Imperia

Take autoroute to Imperia Est (about 20 minutes on the autoroute from Ventimiglia). Follow signs for centre. Park where you can. There is an underground car park just before the piazza. There is a beautiful piazza and the main street has colonnades and lovely shops.

In the old town, there is a fantastic wine shop - Vinotech which sells Lupi wines. He is a mine of information but speaks only Italian. Try Amarone or Barolo. We have never had a bad wine from him!

Several great restaurants on the port. Try Dolce Agro and have their special menu (the small one) it is local fish, whatever has come in that day. It is quite wonderful! There is also Il Patria, not so up market but good also.
